Arsenal are reportedly set to accelerate their efforts to sign Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis, as per BBC Sport.
After moving to Jan Breydel Stadium from Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2024, the 24-year-old enjoyed a promising debut campaign, making 34 goal contributions across all competitions.
However, he took his game to another level last term, scoring 20 goals and registering 25 assists in 45 appearances in all tournaments. Moreover, the forward has guided his side to win a Belgian Pro League title and a couple of domestic cup competitions over the last two seasons.
Having proven his worth in club football, Tzolis has established himself as an undisputed starter in the Greece national team’s starting line-up.
Now, BBC Sport report that following Leandro Trossard’s move to Besiktas, Arsenal are set to accelerate their efforts to sign Tzolis, with Club Brugge anticipating an offer from the Gunners.
Sporting director, Andrea Berta, has been working on finalising the operation after his assistant Maurizio Micheli scouted the forward closely for Greece against Sweden last month.
With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2029, Club Brugge aren’t in any rush to sell him, but they are a selling club and are prepared to let him leave for around £30m.
Tzolis to Arsenal
The report state that Arsenal are considering investing big money to upgrade the attacking department and are keen on signing Morgan Rogers alongside Tzolis.
However, Aston Villa want around £130m to sell the Englishman; as a result, Mikel Arteta’s side have identified Bradley Barcola as a potential alternative option. Moreover, Arsenal hold a long-standing interest in Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.
Tzolis is a right-footed left-winger by trait but is also comfortable on the opposite side. Furthermore, he can provide cover centrally if needed.
The winger is technically sound, can create opportunities for fellow attackers, is efficient at taking penalties, and also has an eye for long-range passing.
He has showcased his goal-scoring prowess in the Belgian top-flight, and the North Londoners will be hoping that he will be able to replicate the same form in the Premier League if he were to join.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window.
