RB Leipzig will only sell Yan Diomande this summer if the winger is loaned back to the club for another year, according to reports in Germany.
Diomande has attracted interest throughout the summer after a brilliant first season in the Bundesliga, and the 19-year-old’s stock has only risen following his performances at the World Cup for the Ivory Coast.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, despite having made him its primary target and made it clear it would be willing to do a deal for $115 million - an offer that was rejected by Leipzig - a move to Anfield looks to be off the table after he chose Paris Saint-Germain over the Reds.
A deal with the European champions is now in the works, with Diomande said to be close to agreeing a five-year contract in the French capital, although Leipzig is not giving him up without a fight.
According to Bild, the Bundesliga side will only agree to a sale if Diomande is loaned back this summer. Leipzig is insistent on the winger staying put for another season, despite conceding that a sale is possible for more than what Liverpool had offered.
It’s not the first time Leipzig has tried to strike a deal like this, as the Reds will know well. A similar situation arose with Naby Keita when Liverpool agreed to sign the midfielder in 2017, but he didn’t make the move to Anfield until the following year.

Diomande is under contract at Leipzig until 2030, and his deal does not include a release clause, which further strengthens his current club’s position.
"Our clear intention is that Yan will play for RB Leipzig next year. And we won’t move away from that," Leipzig’s managing director Marcel Schafer said last month.
"We know exactly what we have in him. Of course, if Yan continues like this, the time will come when we allow him to take the next step - but not this year.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
“We hold all the cards. So, to make it clear once again: Diomande will remain an RB Leipzig player.”

Having stayed in the United States on holiday following his country’s exit at the World Cup at the hands of Norway in the last-32, Diomande is expected back at Leipzig at the end of the month, with the club’s new head coach Martin Demichelis leaving his star in no uncertain terms.
"Yan still has a contract, he has to come back,” Demichelis is quoted as saying on the winger.
