Yan Diomande is of interest to Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea
Manchester City or Manchester United could make their move for Yan Diomande, following Liverpool who have already made an official offer.
SportBILD report on the 19-year-old today, whose future remains in the spotlight following his breakout season in the Bundesliga.
European clubs in contact
The newspaper reports that Europe’s top clubs have been contacting Leipzig, Red Bull and Yan Diomande’s agents over the last few weeks ‘almost daily’.
The winger is one of the most sought-after teenagers in the world of football. So far, Liverpool are the only club to have submitted an official bid. Sport Witness have covered their interest for the past year or more. Leipzig rejected the offer. Paris Saint-Germain’s interest is also well known.
But many more clubs have since indicated that they wish to bid for Diomande. SportBILD report that Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have shown interest.
And alongside a willingness to sign him, all those clubs have set financial limits. According to SportBILD’s information, no club is prepared to pay more than €100m for the rising star this summer.
€120m wanted
That’s made things easier for Leipzig. Their strategy is ‘no sale this summer’. They were only interested in a sale if they received an outrageous offer in excess of €120m.
Now it seems none of the potential suitors want to pay that figure. The German side have now turned their attention to a new contract, including a pay rise.
The problem could be Yan Diomande himself. He has, reportedly, given his word to various suitors that he will join them.
As a result, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all believe that they are in ‘pole position’ for his signature.
At the same time, he’s also signalled a willingness to stay in Leipzig for another year and continue his development. That only adds to what is a mixed and confused situation.
