Brian Schottenheimer is currently the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He was promoted to the role in January 2025, replacing previous head coach Mike McCarthy. He previously served as the offensive coordinator during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
His inaugural season saw the franchise have a record of 7-9-1 with one of the worst defensive stats in the league, and miss the playoffs as well. He has now opened up about his desire to win the biggest trophy.
Brian Schottenheimer wants to win Super Bowl for players
Schottenheimer is entering his second season in charge, and has huge expectations ahead of the next season. With a poor first season in charge, many are doubting his ability to revitalize the roster and grab good results. But the coach himself is certain of his success, and is confident of winning the Super Bowl itself.

In a July 2026 appearance on “The Twins Take Podcast“, he expressed his confidence in winning the Lombardi Trophy, but added that he does not want to win for himself, but rather for the Cowboys players. He said, “It’s always something I’ve always dreamed of, you know. I want to win a Super Bowl. I don’t want to win it for me.”
He specifically mentioned some key players, “I want to win it for the people under my leadership. I want to win it for Dak Prescott. I want to win it for CeeDee Lamb, for Quinnen Williams, for your players that put in so much, you know, hard work and the sacrifice that goes into what we do. You know, from us as a coaching staff, it’s the hours, it’s the mental strain of game planning, but for the players, they put their bodies on the line.”
Schottenheimer also added that while he does not want to win it for personal reasons, he wants to dedicate it to a loved one.
Brian Schottenheimer wants to get Super Bowl ring for late father
Schottenheimer also talked about a personal desire to win the Super Bowl, as he wishes to dedicate it to his late father Marty Schottenheimer. His father was one of the most successful coaches in the NFL, though he didn’t manage to win a Super Bowl. Being the head coach of teams like the Cleveland Browns, the Kansas City Chiefs, and others, he had 200 regular-season wins, which puts him seventh in the all-time win record.
Schottenheimer said in reference to his father, “I’ve said this from the very beginning, when we get our Super Bowl rings, I’ll be getting an extra one for my dad.”
Brian Schottenheimer will now prepare for the next season, with much expectations on him and the franchise.
