The Dallas Cowboys went 7-9-1 last season and missed the playoffs for the second straight year. After a busy offseason acquiring a plethora of new talent to improve the defense, the goal is clearly to perform better and make a postseason push. However, it appears that head coach Brian Schottenheimer believes the changes made are sufficient for the club to go on a Super Bowl run.
During a guest appearance on the “Twins Take Podcast,' Schottenheimer discussed how important winning a Super Bowl is to him. After claiming he wants to win a title in honor of his late father, Marty Schottenheimer, who passed away in February 2021. The 52-year-old head coach ended his comments by claiming he and the Cowboys plan on being in the Super Bowl this coming season.
“It's always something I've always dreamed of, you know,” Schottenheimer said. “I want to win a Super Bowl. I don't want to win it for me… I’ve said this from the very beginning: When we get our Super Bowl rings, I’ll be getting an extra one for my dad… I make no qualms that that's the goal. The Super Bowl next year is Feb. 14th, 2027. We plan on being there.”

The front office brought in a haul of new talent, mainly on the defensive side of the ball, as that was a key issue last season. Dallas found new starters by acquiring OLB Rashan Gary, DE Otito Ogbonnia, ILB Dee Winters, SS Jalen Thompson, and Cobie Durant in free agency. The Cowboys used their first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Ohio State defensive back Caleb Downs, who is viewed as one of the top prospects in this year's class.
Meanwhile, the offense is largely running it back. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens lead the way in the wide receiver room, giving Dak Prescott plenty to work with in the passing game. The offensive line remains intact, and the club is confident Javonte Williams can put together another strong outing.
