Ex-Liverpool striker Michael Owen says the Reds could offer to take West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen on loan for a season, following the London club’s relegation to the Championship.
Finding a replacement for Mo Salah has proven to be a very difficult task, and Owen believes the Reds should consider a stopgap solution:

“Jarrod Bowen’s just crying out. I mean, there’s no risk. He’s brilliant. He’ll score plenty of goals; he’s played in the Premier League. I certainly don’t want to upset West Ham fans, but surely someone of his quality can’t be playing in the Championship for a year.
“I mean, it’s not like he’s 17, and starting his career. He’s got to be playing in the top teams. Even if they loaned him for a year, what about that? That’d be interesting, wouldn’t it? West Ham get back up and then he can go back, and that gives Liverpool time to find someone else.
“It might be a stupid thing to say, but Liverpool are desperate, they need somebody like him, and I’d go and get him.”
West Ham would never agree to such a deal
The Hammers would surely reject such an offer for their talisman. Unless it came with an extremely high loan fee, there would be no reason for them to accept the proposal.
It is a rather bizarre suggestion from Owen, and it is not an option you can see sporting director Richard Hughes even considering.

Who will Liverpool sign to replace Salah?
After failing to persuade Yan Diomande to make the switch to Anfield, the options are VERY limited. Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola is the main alternative, but he isn’t a perfect fit. He prefers to play on the left wing, and his asking price is eyewatering.
FC Cologne’s Said El Mala and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo would be less expensive, but they also prefer to be deployed on the left. Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh would be a better fit, as he is a natural left-footed right winger, but his output is leagues below that of Salah.
