Armin Pecsi is yet to make his Liverpool debut, and that wait looks set to extend with the Hungarian goalkeeper a potential loan departure this summer.
Pecsi, 21, joined Liverpool last year from Puskas Akademia to bolster the Reds’ academy ranks. He went on to make 17 appearances for Liverpool’s Under-21s, and also made his full senior international debut for Hungary in the 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in June.
Pecsi would face a fight to make his senior Liverpool debut, with the club’s goalkeeping ranks currently bolstered by No. 1 Alisson and Georgia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili. Third shot-stopper Freddie Woodman is also still on the books.
According to The Athletic, Pecsi is increasingly likely to leave the club on loan this summer. It’s unclear at what level Pecsi would need to play to gain senior, first-team experience. Both of his first-team appearances thus far have come in Hungary’s top tier with Puskas Akademia, and the second tier during a loan stint at Csakvar in 2022-23.
The summer transfer window is expected to be busy for the Reds, who are looking to hit the ground running under new management. Andoni Iraola replaced Premier League-winning manager Arne Slot earlier this summer following a poor second season at Anfield.
The Reds fell well short of defending the Premier League title and went trophyless in all their competitive competitions. Center-back Jeremy Jacquet has officially joined the club after a deal was agreed earlier this year.
Liverpool also signed Victor Munoz from Spanish side Osasuna. Iraola is determined to bring the energy back to the squad in a massive shake-up, with the team already losing club legends Mo Salah and Andy Robertson.

“I always talk about energy,” Iraola said. “I want my team to be energetic. I want to be dynamic, to play in the opposition’s half as much as we can, sometimes on the ball, sometimes without the ball.
“I want to try to suffocate the possession, especially at Anfield. We have to make Anfield a very uncomfortable place to come. Sometimes I’ve come here, and it’s a lovely stadium, lovely atmosphere, you try to enjoy it. No. We have to make it so it’s not going to be nice to visit.
“It’s got to be nice for us because you are going to have a hard time. This requires also the connection with the supporters. One of our biggest advantages is if we get this connection from the team to the supporters, from the supporters to the team, right? It’s very difficult then to stop us.”
Iraola is looking to prove that the good work already seen in his managerial career can translate to his toughest test yet: Liverpool. “I feel like I have a lot of things to prove,” Iraola admitted.

“I’ve never coached a club as big as Liverpool. So, it’s a big challenge for me. But there always has to be that first moment. My career has been slowly, slowly, you know? Going to a better club, to a better club, then you get a promotion.
“I went from La Liga, then Premier League, then you get to a better class. So, I’ve experienced this kind of change of goals or coaching in a bigger club, and there is always a time where I say, ‘you have to prove that you belong’ – and this is the first month for me now.
“I need to prove myself and get everyone to know I belong here, that I have the level to stay here and coach Liverpool. That’s my challenge short term, you know? Once you’ve gone through this process, and everyone understands that you belong there, everything gets easier.”
