Jaylen Warren isn’t spending his final few weeks before training camp laying on the couch and binging his favorite Netflix show. Warren is working hard to stay in shape and hit the ground running in 2026 under Mike McCarthy.
As shared by the RBEAST Instagram account, a football trainer whose bio in part describes his workouts as “building game speed through elite footwork,” Warren was seen going through a series of intense workouts.
Warren wore his Steelers’ helmet for the workout, a calling card of sorts for him. Warren is well-known for never taking off his helmet when practicing, and he leaves it on for all of practice during training camp. He was joined by Detroit Lions RB Sione Vaki. Warren attended high school and spent part of his college career in the state of Utah while Vaki attended the University of Utah from 2022-2023.
The clips show them working on footwork through cones and cans and conditioning with uphill runs. It comes on the heels of teammate RB Kaleb Johnson spotted working with veteran runner David Montgomery.
Warren is no stranger to pushing himself during offseason workouts. Last year, he went viral for his clip pulling an entire soccer net across a field.
During spring workouts, Warren told reporters he dropped weight down to 208 pounds. It would nearly match his NFL Combine weight of 207 pounds.
Presumably, all in an effort to get more explosive and generate longer runs. While he flashed those moments with a pair of 45 yard touchdowns against Detroit, he tied for 19th in the NFL in 10-plus yard runs last year with 23. In runs of 20-plus yards, he finished a slightly better tied for 11th with six.
Rico Dowdle and Warren are expected to share Pittsburgh’s backfield this season. Working with McCarthy in Dallas, Dowdle may have a slight edge, but both players are expected to have significant roles in the offense.
Once Pittsburgh holds its first training camp practice on July 29th, expect Warren to already be in mid-season form.
