Arsenal are all set to make it big in the transfer market, as per recent news. The Gunners are now interested in another Brazilian player, Danilo Santos.
Santos to join Arsenal for upcoming season?
The Gunners are aggressively buying players for the 2026-27 upcoming season. They recently expressed their interest in Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes. However, it looks like the North London club also want to boost their midfield lineup. That is why the Gunners are interested in Santos. Arsenal made contacts with Botafogo for a potential deal, as reported by GiveMeSport. Additionally, they’re not the only ones interested in the 25-year-old. Newcastle United and AS Roma have also expressed their interest in Santos.
Santos joined Botafogo in 2025. He was signed by the Brazilian club from Nottingham Forest for an amount of €22 million. Before that, he played for Nottingham Forest from 2023 to 2025. Previously, he played for Palmeiras between 2020 and 2023.

Will Santos be a good fit at Arsenal?
If Santos agrees to join Arsenal, it will be a bonus for the team’s midfield lineup. Team manager Mikel Arteta wants to maintain the winning momentum for the Gunners in the upcoming season. Since the 2023-24 season, no team in the English **Premier League**has retained their title in the next season. Arteta wishes to change this next year.
How does Santos come into the picture? The Brazilian midfielder performed very well for Botafogo last year. He was one of the top scorers for Botafogo by the end of the 2025-26 season. His performance also earned him a place in the Brazilian squad.
What’s next for Danilo Santos?
Santos will currently take some rest before resuming his training for the upcoming season. He was a part of the Brazilian team at the current World Cup. Brazil somehow trudged to the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. However, they were eliminated by Norway. After the 1966 edition, this is the first time that **Brazil**couldn’t make it to the quarter-final stage.
Santos sustained multiple injuries during the 2025-26 season. This included a thigh injury that he suffered in mid September 2025. He also sustained an ankle injury that kept him out of action from November 2025 to January 2026.The Brazilian midfielder needs to be in top form if he wants to make it big in club football.
Arsenal have regained their lost pride after a long time. Naturally, coach Arteta cannot afford to be complacent. He has the living example of Arne Slot in front of him. The former manager of Liverpool was sacked only a year after leading the Reds to the Premier League title in the 2024-25 season.
Santos won’t be the only midfielder in the squad if he agrees to the Arsenal deal. Apart from him, the Gunners are also pursuing players like Morgan Rogers, Sandro Tonali among others. If even one of them joins the team by the 2026-27 season, the Brazilian midfielder will have a lot to learn from. If Bruno Guimaraes joins the Gunners, it will be a bonus. It won’t be easy for Arsenal to secure Santos for the upcoming season. However, if they manage to do so, they have a bright future ahead.
