Colin Cowherd Loses Faith in Lamar Jackson and Names QB Who Went “Toe-to-Toe” With Josh Allen…

Lamar Jackson is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, known for his heroics over the years. Playing for the Baltimore Ravens, he has already established himself as a very dangerous quarterback for the opponents.

He is already a two-time NFL MVP, and already holds the all-time record for rushing yards as a quarterback. Despite being well regarded, one person has lost his faith in the player.

Colin Cowherd criticizes Lamar Jackson’s reliability in big moments

Jackson has been great ever since joining the league as a rookie back in 2018. However, he has struggled in recent seasons, and has a bad postseason record with 3 wins and 5 losses. He has also struggled with injuries and has played fewer games last season, where they failed to make it to the postseason, the first time since the 2021 season. This has led to some criticism of the player, including some previous admirers.

FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd recently talked about Jackson on the July 14, 2026 episode of The Herd. He was discussing the quarterback’s placement at No. 69 on the NFL Top 100 Players list for 2026. The list is voted on by the players themselves, and his new rank is a sharp drop from his No. 2 ranking the previous year.

Cowherd questioned the reliability of Jackson during critical moments. He said, “He is a declining player, and his rush attempts have gone down since 2021. The old saying, I trust somebody until I don’t trust somebody. I no longer trust Lamar Jackson in a big spot. I’m selling my stock. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad quarterback or even average. He’s better than average. Way better than average. But I probably held my stock for a year too long.”

Cowherd not only criticized Jackson, but also highlighted other players that he would prefer to build a team around, with one name in particular for the crucial fourth-quarter moments.

Colin Cowherd prefers Bo Nix over Lamar Jackson in big moments

Cowherd has also praised other quarterbacks, and has said that he will rather rely on young quarterbacks instead of Jackson. He highlighted the names of Chicago Bears’ Caleb Williams, New England Patriots’ Drake Maye, and especially Denver Broncos’ Bo Nix. He highlighted the Broncos quarterback and praised his reliability in the big moments.

He said, “I take Bo Nix today in a fourth-quarter come-from-behind situation. Bo Nix over Lamar Jackson. Why? Because the analytics and data tell you he’s better. I watched Bo Nix go toe-to-toe with Josh Allen in a division-round playoff game with a broken ankle.”

Lamar Jackson is yet to respond to this criticism, and he will now prepare hard for the next season.
