New dashcam footage has surfaced from the horrific crash that nearly cost ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller his life last month.
The video, captured by the semi-truck involved in the June 17 collision and published by the California Post, shows Miller’s Ford Bronco swerving across the double-yellow line on a two-lane Missouri road right before hitting the truck head-on.
The 43-year-old expert went public with the accident on June 23, just days after being airlifted to Mercy Hospital. He has since undergone multiple surgeries, including a life-saving amputation of his left arm. And he is currently on an indefinite medical leave of absence from ESPN as he heals.

In the video, both drivers could be seen trying to swerve at the last second, but the driver’s side of the Bronco took the worst of it. The wreck happened on a Monday afternoon in Jasper County, according to local station KOAM-TV.

Highway patrol report mentioned that Miller actually had his seatbelt on, but it snapped from the impact, throwing him out of the vehicle. Luckily, the truck driver wasn’t hurt at all. Photos from the scene show the front-left side of the Bronco completely crushed, and police say an improper lane change caused the accident that also being speculated as a suicidal attempt.

In his initial post on X, Miller listed out the full extent of his injuries: multiple fractures, broken ribs, and what he called a “life-saving amputation” of his left arm.
“I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff,” he wrote, adding, “I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this.”

He later gave followers a surgical update, explaining that the amputation went well, that he hopes to get a prosthetic down the road, and that the surgical team managed to save his left leg while repairing his femur and shattered kneecap. Due to the intense recovery ahead, Miller is stepping away from ESPN indefinitely.
The 42-year-old analyst has been covering the draft for ESPN since 2021, after spending more than a decade making a name for himself as Bleacher Report’s lead draft writer. He’s become a regular fixture on NFL Live, SportsCenter, and ESPN’s mock draft coverage.
Even with a long rehabilitation process in front of him, Miller made it clear he is already looking forward to getting back to the job and scouting the 2027 class of prospects.
