Arsenal have identified Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis as a target to replace Leandro Trossard, who has completed a move to Beşiktaş.
Two days ago, we relayed news of the Premier League winners approaching Club Brugge for the winger.
On Thursday, Sport Witness covered claims from Belgium that Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, AS Roma and Borussia Dortmund are keen. However, the Gunners are the only club to contact the Belgian side.
The Greek international, for his part, has given his preference to the north London club, and the negotiations should intensify in the coming days.
What impressed Arsenal manager
Greek journalist Dimitris Manakos took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to back up claims of the player’s desire to join Arsenal.
The English club have a ‘real chance’ to sign the 24-year-old because of his stance.
Christos Tzolis has been clear from the beginning that he only wants to play for Arsenal. Manakos states they highly value this sort of commitment from a transfer target.
Mikel Arteta appreciates this ‘enormously’ and is ‘truly impressed’ that he only wants to join Arsenal.
The journalist makes no mention whether this is enough to convince Arsenal to make further advances. Thursday’s claims from Belgium stated the Gunners haven’t converted their approach into an offer.
Club Brugge want record fee
The Jupiler Pro League side’s club-record sale is €37.5m from Charles De Ketelaere’s transfer to AC Milan in 2022.
Last month, we relayed news that Club Brugge want Christos Tzolis’ sale to break this record.
Club Brugge rejected Crystal Palace’s €32m last summer, and the player has confirmed this.
It’s now down to Arsenal to make an offer higher than €37.5m to convince Club Brugge.
Tzolis managed 22 goals and 29 assists last season.
