Signing Undrafted free agents in the NFL is a tricky proposition. In 2026, UDFA NFL Contracts in the NFC South totaled over $4.5 million. Once the draft is over, teams can sign undrafted college players, and the enticement of money talks. NFL teams just spent $10.6 million on undrafted players. It is worth noting that even though undrafted free agents can sign a three-year contract for just over $3 million, very little of that contract is guaranteed. In fact, many players have nothing guaranteed, or only paltry amounts of five to twenty thousand dollars.
Some teams, like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, invested a guaranteed $916,000 on just five players, while others, like the Miami Dolphins, spent $180,000 on just two players.

The Falcons dished out nearly $1.8 million in guarantees, with multiple undrafted free agents likely bets to make the final roster. Five players received guarantees over $200K, all with better than 50-50 odds of making the team:

Ten undrafted free agents were signed by Carolina, with eight of them netting six figures in guarantees. Leading the bunch were DeVonta Smith(cornerback) of Notre Dame and Aaron Hall(defensive tackle) from Duke, each guaranteed $272,500.

The Saints guaranteed money to just two players and made a big splash at offensive tackle. Alan Herron of Maryland received a guaranteed $272,500 as an undrafted free agent and is a good bet to make the final 53-man roster.

Tampa Bay inked eighteen undrafted free agents, but just four inked guarantees in six figures. Three of the four are already solid bets to make the final 53-man roster: Offensive tackle Paul Rubelt of Central Florida, wide receiver Eric Rivers from Georgia Tech, and quarterback Jalon Daniels of Kansas.
