Dominik Szoboszlai is expected to sign a new long-term contract at Liverpool, ending any speculation over his future.
Szoboszlai has established himself as one of the Reds' most important players since arriving from RB Leipzig in 2023. Having played a pivotal role in Liverpool's Premier League title triumph in 2025, he went on to be the standout player during what was a disappointing following season for the club, winning the Player of the Season award.
There has been some speculation over his future at Anfield, with Real Madrid said to have been interested in acquiring his services, although he now looks to have put any doubts to bed.
Reports from Hungary are suggesting that the midfielder will sign a new deal today, having agreed terms following talks with sporting director Richard Hughes. Anfield Watch’s Bence Bocsak - a fellow Hungarian who is well connected with the 25-year-old - cites Liverpool fan page Pool Baratok, which claims that the contract will be signed on Thursday.
And The Athletic has also revealed that an agreement is in place for a new long-term deal, with Liverpool retaining the services of Szoboszlai, who has two years left on his current contract.
A new deal for Szoboszlai has been in the works for some time, with the midfielder having confirmed earlier this year that he was in talks with the club, although he didn't give any indication that he was close to signing new terms at the time.

"As I said (a few weeks ago), there has been no real progression, so I cannot say anything new about my contract situation," Szoboszlai told reporters following the Merseyside derby back in April.
"We have a lot of games to go and I am focusing on that. As you guys maybe know, my contract ends in 2028, so I am ready to go every day, every week, and then let's see.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
"Of course I see myself here in the long term, but as I say, it is not really in my hands any more. I love being here, as I said many times; I love the fans and I really like to be here. My family is happy. I'm completely relaxed."
Szoboszlai is one of the players to have made their way back to pre-season training ahead of the new season, with Liverpool's new head coach Andoni Iraola getting his first glimpse of his new squad this summer.
