Arsenal have reached an agreement with Club Brugge for the transfer of forward Christos Tzolis, according to The Athletic.
Arsenal have agreed to pay €40 million (£34m) for the Greek winger and are on the verge of finalising the deal.
The Gunners are aiming to strengthen their left wing this summer. Leandro Trossard’s departure to Turkish side Besiktas has heightened the need to do so.
Tzolis has emerged as a target following his explosive performances for Brugge last season.
The 24-year-old made 52 appearances across all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 29 assists.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Tzolis is not expected to affect their interest in Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers.
Tzolis could be a good signing for Arsenal
Tzolis joined Brugge in the summer of 2024 and enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season.
The 24-year-old winger was head and shoulders above his peers in the Belgian top-flight last season, winning the Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year award.
The Greece international offers a goal threat, while also creating chances for his team-mates.
He scored 19 league goals, a tally bettered only by Nicolo Tresoldi . His overhead kick against Dender also won the Goal of the Season, further highlighting his brilliant finishing ability.
Tzolis’ 23 assists were the highest in the division, 10 more than the closest challenger, Konstantinos Karetsas. He also created the most big chances.
The Greece international appears well suited to Arsenal’s style of play, but he would find it difficult to break into the starting line-up, particularly if the Gunners eventually complete the signing of Rogers.
It also remains to be seen whether he can replicate the outstanding form he showed at Brugge with Arsenal.
