**PSG defender Illia Zabarnyi remains a player of interest to Liverpool and is reportedly a target to keep an eye on this summer as the Reds react to market opportunities.**
Zabarnyi (23) was fantastic in the Premier League during the 2024/25 season and followed Dean Huijsen in making a move away from the Premier League, even though Liverpool failed to sign either promising young star.
Liverpool were keen on Zabarnyi before he made the [£57m move to PSG](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c1leezv2r0zo) from Bournemouth, but now that Andoni Iraola has joined the Anfield outfit, it should come as no surprise to hear that the Merseysiders have reignited their interest.
After losing Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer, there is an increased need to sign a new centre-back this summer in spite of the arrival of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.
Liverpool would jump at chance to sign Illia Zabarnyi

Speaking on [Redmen TV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kLBalbN_AA), reliable Liverpool journalist David Lynch has made some intriguing comments about interest in Zabarnyi this summer, even if it’s a long shot.
While commenting on rumours linking PSG’s Illia Zabarnyi to Liverpool, the journalist said he thinks that the whispers could have some credibility given their previous interest in the central defender.
Lynch says that Liverpool would be “all over” his situation if PSG were willing to offload the player at a “cut-price deal.”
He reports: _“I think it’s one of those that you could see legs in. Richard Hughes will know him from his time at Bournemouth and will know everything about the player. Of course the manager will like him as well._
_“If PSG are in a situation where they think, ‘OK, this hasn’t quite worked out; we’re willing to do a cut-price deal’, that’s the sort of thing Liverpool tend to be all over. You think about them taking Ryan Gravenberch for a cut-price fee from Bayern.”_
Commenting on Liverpool’s centre-back situation, Lynch commented: _“I think Liverpool are a bit short at centre-half. You’re putting an awful lot in Jacquet and Leoni and of course Van Dijk, who’s now a year older, to go in with the options that you’ve currently got.”_
