Victor Munoz became Liverpool’s first signing of the Andoni Iraola era this summer. The Spain international joined the Reds from Osasuna on a long-term contract after an impressive 2025-26 campaign.
A pacy, direct and versatile attacker, Munoz made 34 appearances for Osasuna, scoring seven goals and providing five assists following his move from Real Madrid in July 2025.
His performances earned him senior recognition with Spain, and he scored on his debut in March 2026 before being selected for the country’s World Cup squad.
Munoz began his career at hometown club Barcelona before joining CF Damm in 2017. He moved to Real Madrid in 2021, where he developed with the B team before making his La Liga debut in May 2025.
After a breakthrough season at Osasuna, Liverpool moved quickly to secure his services as Iraola’s first signing. The head coach believes the Reds have added a “very hungry and ambitious” forward who can make a significant impact at Anfield.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Iraola said: “With Victor, I think we signed him in a moment where he’s very hungry, he’s ambitious, but he’s still humble and knows that he has to come very ready.
“I think he’s someone with some versatility – can play right, can play left, he has the work-rate also for all that we will require. Looking forward to having him here, even if we know that we will have to wait with him and Macca.”
Victor Munoz is set to return for pre-season training in August after Spain reached the World Cup final. Spain and Argentina booked their places in the showpiece after defeating France and England respectively, with the final set to take place in New Jersey on Sunday.
FIFA regulations require players to receive a minimum of three weeks’ rest following the World Cup. As a result, Munoz is not expected to return to Liverpool training until August 10.
The forward is likely to miss all but one of Liverpool’s pre-season friendlies and could make his first appearance for the Reds against Como at Anfield on August 16.
