Patrick Mahomes is widely regarded to be one of the best quarterbacks to play in the NFL in the last decade. He is also one of the biggest reasons for the Kansas City Chiefs‘ success in recent years. He has appeared in five Super Bowl appearances, and has won three of them.
However, he had a quiet 2025 season with poor results and a horrible injury affecting him. He recently showcased his impressive knowledge.
Patrick Mahomes flexes quarterback recognition
Mahomes is one of the best quarterbacks, and he recently proved it. In a viral video released by the Chiefs’ social media, the Chiefs star showed his football knowledge by guessing which quarterback is in the clip. The caption of the video said, “QB1 knows his stuff.”

The quarterbacks are all blacked out in the game film, and Mahomes has to guess who it is from observing the playing style of each player. In the video, he correctly guesses most of the players, both from the modern era and the previous one. He analyzed each quarterback’s throwing style, and accurately managed to remember who it was from the film.
He managed to guess players like Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, and Philip Rivers. Surprisingly, he failed to guess Tom Brady and Tony Romo. He expressed regret over not guessing Romo, as he is a Dallas Cowboys legend, and Mahomes is a childhood Cowboys fan and idolized Romo from that age. He also missed Steve Young, though he blamed the video for misinterpreting him as a right handed instead of left.
It is a perfect example of how much Mahomes studies his opponents and other past quarterbacks. It shows that he is constantly trying to improve himself, and that he has built up his reputation over the years by observing other great quarterbacks.
Patrick Mahomes took advice from Tom Brady
Mahomes suffered a horrible injury back in December 2025, which required surgery. He is still recovering from that setback, and is well on his way to fully recover. In his rehabilitation journey, Mahomes managed to get advice from none other than Brady.
Mahomes revealed what advice Brady have him, “He just talked about the process of it and how he changed little things here and there to make himself even better. That’s stuff that I’ll continue to work on throughout this year and the rest of my career so that I can hopefully prolong my career to be as long as his was.”
Patrick Mahomes will focus on getting back to top form as the next season approaches.
