Considering the league's scheduling and game arrangement for the next 2026-27 NBA season, Silver openly urged James to finalize his next NBA team.
“We have to finish up the schedule and where LeBron plays affects the schedule," Silver said, via Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic. " ... It will influence how we set the schedule — opening week, Christmas. So I need him to make a decision.”

The NBA's full regular-season schedule is usually unveiled during the second or third week of August. Ahead of the official release of all 82 games for each of the league's 30 teams, marquee matchups like Opening Night, Christmas Day, and MLK Day are often announced first.
As far as LeBron James' free agency front, the future Hall of Famer remains mum on which team he wants to play for next since leaving the Los Angeles Lakers. Speaking during a live episode of the Mind the Game podcast at Fanatics Fest, James declined to reveal to everyone his decision.
