Aaron Jones hosts football camp at Briar Cliff University

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - NFL running back Aaron Jones hosted a football camp on the campus of Briar Cliff University, drawing nearly 200 young athletes to Faber Field for a chance to work alongside a professional player and members of the Briar Cliff Chargers football program.

Briar Cliff Chargers players participated alongside Jones, offering youth athletes instruction on the field. For members of the program, the event represented an opportunity to give back to the Sioux City community.

“Yeah, super awesome, we saw the flyer come down, we kinda exploded, it’s super cool what he is doing for this community,” said Briar Cliff senior Brock Saya. “I mean this camp in general is getting people out here, we’re just super fortunate to have an athlete like him come down here and host a camp like this.”

Briar Cliff head football coach Nathan Koziol said the event stood out among community programs he has been part of during his tenure.

“This is one of the coolest events we have done in my time here,” Koziol said. “I’ve done this six years now and just to see the community rally around one NFL player and have him be the talk of the town for weeks has been an awesome thing — just to see almost 200 of our youth students and athletes here at Briar Cliff University, so this is an awesome event for us.”

Young athletes at the camp also shared their reactions to the experience. Camper David Clark said it “feels good and it feels exciting.” Camper Jake Lundberg, who plays running back, said Jones is someone he looks up to.

“It feels great because like he’s my idol and I play running back and I want to be like him someday,” Lundberg said.
