A Fabrizio Romano update on Arsenal’s interest in Morgan Rogers may be construed as a positive insight into Liverpool’s chances of signing PSG superstar Bradley Barcola.
Yesterday, I wrote about how RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande stance puts Liverpool’s hopes of signing Barcola at risk. The German outfit isn’t willing to sell the Ivorian anymore unless he is loaned back for the 2026/27 which may in turn prevent PSG from selling Barcola.
Today, I bring a slightly more positive outlook on Barcola to Liverpool, even if that remains a concern of mine.
Arsenal moving for Rogers while no talks have taken place for Barcola
According to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are now set to advance on their interest in Rogers while they have not held talks to sign Barcola as things stand.
Romano reports via X: “Arsenal are now set to accelerate on Morgan Rogers deal, top target as new winger as always mentioned.Talks already advanced on player side and separate case from Tzolis,AFC always wanted both.
“No talks for Barcola so far; focus on Rogers.”

Arsenal are making a mistake that will hugely benefit Liverpool if they choose Rogers and Barcola
When the first concrete reports linking Arsenal with Barcola emerged, I must admit I was concerned.
The Gunners won the Premier League last season, relying mostly on their superior defensive acumen while they struggled to put teams away with open play attacking. The injury to Bukayo Saka early in the campaign limited them quite a bit.
But add Barcola to the equation and suddenly Arsenal are a terrifying team to face. So, to hear they are moving for Rogers instead is a relief. Make no mistake, Rogers is a fantastic player, but what Mikel Arteta’s team is crying out for is devastating pace and 1v1 ability on the left wing.
Liverpool are similarly in need of Barcola, but if Arsenal are going to spend £100m or thereabouts on Rogers, they will likely struggle to fit Barcola into the equation.
The 2026/27 Premier League title will be decided by who signs Barcola alone but it will certainly have a bearing on which way the ascendancy swings.
