The 20-year-old was one of the hottest talents on the continent prior to his move to Barcelona nearly a year ago to the day.
Bardghji scored a late winner for FC Copenhagen against Manchester United in the Champions League in November 2013 to cement his rise to stardom.
However, the three-cap Sweden international's move to Barcelona has not exactly gone to plan and he is now being allowed to leave.
The right-sided attacker was restricted to just seven LaLiga starts in 2025-26, while featuring a further 14 times from the substitutes' bench.
Everton have now emerged as an interested party amid a new update coming out of Spain.
That is a transfer link that did not exactly get supporters all that excited, it is fair to say.
However, speculation regarding a move for Bardghji should get the pulses racing.
Friday's print edition of Mundo Deportivo reports that Everton are one of six Premier League clubs to have spoken to Barcelona about the youngster.
That interest is Europe-wide, in fact, as teams from each of the continent's top five leagues have made enquiries.
The report adds that Barcelona will either loan out Bardghji or transfer him permanently with an option to buy back.
Karim Adeyemi has also joined from Borussia Dortmund, so competition has only increased as far as Bardghji is concerned.
Gordon will likely be a regular starter, meaning Bardghji - hailed a "unique" player by Copenhagen's head of talent Sune Smith-Nielsen in 2020 - will get even less playing time than last season.
Just because he is not wanted at Camp Nou, though, does not mean he cannot be a success elsewhere.
Everton fans love an exciting attacker and Bardghji ticks that box.
And if a loan agreement can be struck, effectively making it a try before you buy, even better.
