It’s the highly anticipated rematch of last year’s Summer League Championship, except I think we’re going to have about zero of the players from last year’s game in this one. Neither team has been able to replicate last summer’s success. Like the Hornets, the Kings opened their summer league slate with a win but have dropped three straight since. Seventh overall pick Darius Acuff has been a little hot and cold but finished with a solid 26 points in what was likely his last summer league appearance a couple of games ago. Without him the Kings feature Alex Karaban, Emanuel Sharp, and some other guys.
The Hornets, for their part, will probably add Tidjane Salaun and Hannes Steinbach to the list of shutdowns. Both had very good games on Wednesday, and given their proximity to the actual NBA rotation, it’s a good spot to end their summer with some positive momentum. I think we’ll still see Christian Anderson and the G League guys, but that’s probably it.
It’s definitely not the most appealing game to watch unless you’re a basketball psycho, so I’ll be tuning in.
