Frenchman on ‘verge of joining’ Manchester City – PL side to finalise signing in coming days

Manchester City

Angers SCO’s Max-Edgar Chabot should complete a move to Manchester City this summer if there are no last-minute setbacks.

That’s according to Le Parisien, who covers the Premier League side’s ongoing efforts to sign the 18-year-old.

New Manchester City target from France

Enzo Maresca’s side have invested £116m [€134.5m] to sign Elliot Anderson and are still looking for another midfielder.

Last month, Sport Witness relayed news that Manchester City are keen on bringing Lille young star Ayyoub Bouaddi. His displays for the Ligue 1 side and Morocco at the World Cup have caught the attention of several clubs, with the Citizens in the lead.

The Etihad club are not just looking at the midfielder from the French market but are also focusing on Max-Edgar Chabot.

The newspaper claims the English club came across the goalkeeper while scouring the French market. His development and potential would have caught their attention.

He came up through the ranks of Angers SCO’s youth setup. Last season, the teenager made his way into their U19s and the reserve team, but hasn’t played for the first team yet.

Chabot kept four clean sheets and conceded six goals from nine matches for Angers U19s and one clean sheet and let in nine goals from four matches for the reserve team. He has also represented France U18s.

Manchester City move in advanced stage

The promising stopper has decided not to sign his first professional contract with Angers SCO. That’s likely because of Enzo Maresca’s side.

In fact, he is now ‘on the verge of joining’ Manchester City. There is no agreement in place yet, but discussions between the parties are progressing well.

Le Parisien state Max-Edgar Chabot’s move to Manchester City could be finalised in the ‘coming days’. Barring any late twist, he should continue his career in England. This would indicate of an imminent agreement.

The Frenchman may not to be part of Maresca’s squad and is likely to first start with the Citizens’ youth team.
