Arsenal are reportedly reassessing their defensive transfer plans following William Saliba’s injury setback, with five defenders now under consideration as the club prepares for the possibility of being without the Frenchman.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are reviewing their options after fears that Saliba could require back surgery, which could rule him out for the opening weeks of next season.
The report claims Mikel Arteta’s side are now expected to keep Ben White rather than allowing him to leave this summer, while the club also looks to strengthen at the back.

TEAMtalk states that Arsenal’s current defensive shortlist includes Wesley, Ivan Fresneda, Nnamdi Collins and Tino Livramento.
The report adds that Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa also remains a serious target, with Arsenal long-term admirers of the England international.
One of the priorities is believed to be signing a defender capable of playing centrally while also offering versatility across the back line.
Saliba’s injury has forced Arsenal to reconsider their plans after the France international was substituted during the first half of his country’s World Cup semi-final against Spain.

Earlier reports suggested Arsenal are considering whether the defender should undergo surgery on his longstanding back issue, with concerns he could miss the beginning of the 2026/27 campaign if an operation is required.
