Football clubs that plan properly for the future tend to enjoy the greatest long-term success. Spotting and securing young talent with real potential early on gives those players the time, coaching and environment they need to grow into important contributors. This patient approach often proves far more valuable than chasing quick fixes.
Certain positions reward this kind of thinking more than others. Goalkeeping demands a rare combination of technical quality, composure under pressure and mental resilience that usually takes years to fully develop. Bringing promising keepers into the right setup early allows them to learn from experienced teammates while preparing for bigger moments ahead.

Arsenal have repeatedly shown they understand the importance of building depth and quality that lasts. Whether through their own pathways or targeted additions from elsewhere, the club focuses on individuals who fit the culture and have room to improve. That same philosophy continues to shape decisions in the current window.
Eighteen-year-old goalkeeper Isabella Damm has now completed a move to the club from Danish side Brondby IF. She had already spent time on trial with Arsenal last season and made her senior debut for Brondby during 2025 while contracted there until 2027.
Damm was quick to express her excitement about joining and her confidence in the environment she is entering. “Arsenal is a great club and I’m excited to develop as a player and as a person here, and help the club achieve more success. I’ve had the experience of training here before and I know the environment here is the right one for me to progress.”

Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley explained the club’s long-standing interest in the young keeper. “We’re really pleased to bring Isabella to the club. She’s a player we’ve been monitoring for some time and we believe she’s one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe in her age group. We’re looking forward to seeing her grow and develop within our goalkeeping set-up here at Arsenal.”
Head Coach Renée Slegers was equally impressed by what Damm already offers and the potential she carries. “Isabella is an exciting young goalkeeper with a strong foundation to build on. Her technical ability, composure and bravery are already clear, and she has a high ceiling for growth and progression. Along with our goalkeeping coaches and wider staff, we’ll support her development as she starts her journey here at Arsenal.”
The arrival comes after Arsenal allowed three goalkeepers to leave earlier in the window. Damm will wear the number 40 shirt, a clear signal that she is regarded as a player for the future rather than someone expected to break into the first team immediately. Time with the under-21s or a loan move could form part of her development path.
Reports have also linked the club with another goalkeeper, suggesting a deliberate effort to strengthen options in the position. For an 18-year-old with Damm’s profile, this represents an outstanding platform to continue her progress under high-quality coaching. Her qualities have already stood out, and the coming seasons will reveal just how significant a part she can play in the club’s ambitions.
