Livingston FC have quietly built a surprising Liverpool connection this summer.
Jeremie Frimpong’s brother, Wesley, has been training with the Scottish Championship side after leaving Austrian outfit LASK.
The 21-year-old right-back came through Bolton Wanderers’ academy before heading to Austria in 2024 to join LASK, where he featured for their amateur side.
After being released at the end of the season he has been given a chance to impress at Livingston.
However, the Liverpool connection does not end there.
Livingston FC have confirmed the signing of former Liverpool striker Joe Boggan on a free transfer, penning a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract with Blackburn Rovers.
In a statement, the club describe Boggan as:
“An athletic centre-forward who can also operate in the wide attacking areas, Joe has built a reputation as a hard-working forward with a keen eye for goal and joins the Lions as an exciting young prospect with plenty of potential.”
Boggan first came onto Liverpool’s radar as a youngster playing grassroots football, joining the club’s Academy as an U14 and spending two years with the Reds before heading to Ewood Park on scholarship terms in 2023.
At Blackburn, the forward progressed from the U18s into the U21s thanks to his goalscoring form. He also gained valuable senior experience through loan spells at Macclesfield Town and FC United of Manchester.
Boggan recently featured as a trialist for Livingston against Hearts and made his unofficial debut off the bench against Brechin, with the club now confirming he will wear the number 31 shirt in West Lothian.
Eligible to represent both England and Italy, he was previously on the radar of clubs in Germany and the Netherlands, but has chosen Livingston as the place to take the next step in his career.
The now 19-year-old will hope that this move continues his development in the professional game.
