With Michael Olise’s World Cup campaign over with France, it seems that the transfer speculation has wasted no time getting started.
The Bayern Munich winger had a disappointing evening as Les Bleus fell 2-0 to Spain in the semi-final of the tournament.
Since then, there has been a flurry of reports on the 24-year-old and whether he will remain in the Bundesliga ahead of next season.
Olise was linked to Liverpool heavily throughout 2025 and the early parts of 2026. However, the Reds understood just how challenging it would be to lure him away from Bavaria, and that the fee required would not be feasible.
Real Madrid, though, appear far less willing to back off. They have been courting the former Crystal Palace attacker, and it seems Olise has been fluttering his eyes back at the Spanish giants.
L’équipe reports that Olise has reportedly told teammates in the French national team that he wants to join Real Madrid this summer:
“Michael Olise, the Bayern Munich striker, no longer hides his desire to transfer to Real Madrid. And has taken, especially from his teammates in blue, all the information in this direction.”
“For the past few weeks, the Dayot Upamecano has been engaged in an intense lobby: trying to retain his teammate Michael Olise, who has decided to leave the Bavarian club this summer to join Real Madrid.”
“To support his thinking about his future and get concrete information about Real Madrid, Olise didn’t look very far. And asked his Madrid teammates in blue – Kylian Mbappé, Aurélien Tchouaméni – about the internal context.”
The report adds that he is said to feel that, after two full seasons in Bavaria, the next step in his career could be a move to what he sees as the biggest institution in world football.
Olise has apparently been speaking to his Madrid-based teammates Kylian Mbappe and Aurélien Tchouameni about how things work behind the scenes at Real Madrid.
Whatever happens, it’s clear that a Liverpool move for the winger looks increasingly off the table.
