Liverpool have seen an attacking option in the transfer market now taken off the table.
Andoni Iraola has already made it clear that he expects Liverpool to be busy in the final weeks and months of the transfer window, stressing that the club are working behind the scenes to bring in further signings to reshape the forward line.
With Mohamed Salah gone and the need for more goals from wide areas obvious, Liverpool have been scanning the market for proven output rather than pure potential.
As exclusively revealed by DaveOCKOP.com earlier this year, West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen was one of the names under serious consideration.
That possibility now looks remote.
The Athletic has reported that Bowen has agreed a revised contract at West Ham which keeps him tied to the London Stadium until 2030 and guarantees his commitment for the club’s 2026-27 Championship campaign.
The new terms do not extend his deal beyond 2030 but effectively close the door on a summer move, with West Ham desperate to retain their captain after relegation and already cashing in on other stars such as Mateus Fernandes, who joined Tottenham for £85million. Crysencio Summerville is also expected to be sold.
Speaking on his staying for the 2026/27 season, Bowen said:
“The main motivation for me is staying and bringing this club back into the Premier League – where we belong.”
“There was always going to be rumours and different things going on and for me it was only right to speak when the time’s right in circumstances like this.”
“Ultimately, it hurt everyone because it was such a disappointing thing that happened but you can’t change it.”
“It didn’t take a lot for me because this club means a lot to me.”
“I think ultimately as a whole group, if we look back at it in 46 games’ time, what we want to achieve is to be in the top two to be in the Premier League. It’s going to be a massive thing for the Club being back in the Premier League where we belong so ultimately the dream is promotion.”
The winger has been at West Ham since 2020 and previously signed a seven-year contract in October 2023.
Bowen is showing loyalty that is increasingly rare in modern football.
