This is more of a confessional than anything else... When Pete Carroll was fired, I was pretty worried. There are for more bad coaches than there are mediocre coaches (which is the category I think Pete had found himself in the last half decade of his Seahawks coaching career), and I was worried we were about to enter the cycle countless franchises wind up in -- hire a young guy, the team gets worse or doesn't improve fast enough or whatever, fire the guy after a season or two, rinse and repeat. I was really legitimately worried we were laying too much blame at Pete's feet for the lack of talent the team had accumulated. I was excited for Pete's first season with Geno and thought there was something to build off of, even the second season... so the coaching change was very concerning to me. We had another good draft in 2024, and though the defense wasn't good right away, I did like how Mike talked about teaching and improvement. I was fully onboard by the beginning of the 2025 season, made it to 4 games in person and couldn't help but tell EVERYONE around me how special this team was and how fun they were to watch, so when we won the Superbowl, not only did I not feel surprised, I was actually a little sad there weren't any more games to watch cause that 2025 team was just so damn fun.
Anyhow, I just wanted to admit here that I was originally not onboard with the Pete Carroll firing (though to be fair, I was glad they got a defensive coach like Pete, cause I love the Hawks being the kind of team that just beats the crap out of the opponent), and I'm soooo incredibly glad that I was wrong and that it was a franchise altering move.
