As he recovers from a serious car crash on June 17 that resulted in his arm being amputated, ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller has another major problem: accusations of fraud.
There had been rumblings for years that Miller did not pay out the winners of fantasy football leagues he ran, which Miller claimed were first and foremost to raise money for charity.
Those accusations have gotten louder since the accident, and especially since a GoFundMe page was started by a family member to help raise money for Miller, which no doubt raised eyebrows given Miller’s high-profile job and the accusations against him.

Donations have since been paused on that page.

The Missouri native, who is now under investigation by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office and is also on leave from ESPN, has broken his silence on the matter in an article from The Athletic’s Adam Kilgore, Alex Andrejev and Melody Gutierrez.
What’s interesting is that Miller did not flat-out deny the accusations.
He did say, however, that the estimation he handled around $100,000 over 91 fantasy football leagues on the Sleeper platform in 2025 didn’t “seem accurate,” but he could not say for sure since he doesn’t have access to his Sleeper account.
Miller also added that “anyone with a legitimate claim to winnings should please contact me immediately.”

Many have wondered if Miller has actually sent the money he collected for the leagues to charity. The Athletic revealed Miller declined to provide documentation to prove he did.
“Miller declined to provide documentation of donations or comment about whether all of the money he said would go to charity made its way there,” The Athletic revealed.
This is the first time Miller has addressed the accusations publicly.
In the wake of the accident and more and more accusations coming to light, Miller has only provided updates on his health status, but his most recent post on X restricted the accounts that could apply, which raised eyebrows under the circumstances.

More details on the accusations against Miller
A quick Reddit or X search will show you the countless people who claim they or someone they know did not receive a payout from Miller, and those accusations stretch back all the way to 2017.
And there’s a lot of smoke to the fire that they may be accurate.
The Athletic reached out to Sleeper and confirmed that Miller’s account had been banned due to “stealing buy-ins from managers and not paying out league winners.”
The Athletic spoke with a dozen people who claimed Miller did not pay out, and some said they received their winnings after reaching out to Miller and threatening to expose him.

And complaints did, in fact, reach ESPN, and “as public criticism amplified in May and June, Miller began paying people back,” The Athletic wrote.
Still, it isn’t clear if any of the money ever made it to the charities Miller promised to donate the funds to.
“He’s offered zero proof that any of (the money collected from the leagues) has gone to charity,” one person who filed a complaint with the Missouri AG said.
In all, the Missouri AG office says it has received 26 complaints during its investigation that also include people who paid for camps Miller was supposed to run “where no product or minimal product was delivered.”

While all of this has been going on, Miller is recovering from a car accident with a semi-truck that was a result of him drifting over a double yellow line, according to video of the crash.
The Athletic notes Miller was thrown from his vehicle and needed life-saving operations that the draft analyst said included the amputation of his left arm.
