Dominik Szoboszlai has shared his first words after Liverpool confirmed the midfielder has signed a contract extension at Anfield.
Szoboszlai’s new contract will keep him at Anfield until 2031, extending his previous deal that had two years remaining. Liverpool had opened talks with the midfielder earlier this year before negotiations resumed recently, leading to an agreement after he returned to training this week.
The upcoming campaign will mark Szoboszlai’s fourth season with the Reds since joining from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, and his first working under new head coach Andoni Iraola. “It’s maybe my biggest day,” Szoboszlai told the club's website.
“There are a couple in front of it – probably when I signed for Liverpool the first one and when I got my baby, of course. But in my football career, I can say this is in the top three.
"Very happy. [I] can’t wait to go again and again and again. I’m just happy to be here, as I said many times."
Szoboszlai’s new contract comes as recognition for an outstanding individual campaign, despite Liverpool experiencing a disappointing season overall.

The Hungary international enjoyed the best goalscoring return of his career at the club, registering 13 goals and 12 assists in 53 appearances while being voted Liverpool’s Player of the Season.
“There’s always more to come. I’m never happy,” added the 25-year-old. “No, I’m happy with myself, but I think I can do even better. I think that’s why I’m sitting here, because that pushed me since I was a kid: that it was never enough. And I’m thinking the same now.
“I want to set the example. I want to be an example also for everyone, as much as I can. When I signed, I said I want to win everything. That didn’t change for a little moment either.
"It stayed the same: I want to win everything that is possible in this country, also let’s say the Champions League. I’m ready to go for it."
There had been some uncertainty surrounding Szoboszlai’s future at Anfield, with reports linking him with interest from Real Madrid. However, his contract extension appears to have ended any speculation over his next move.

On whether it was an easy decision, Szoboszlai said: "I's always easy to make a decision, especially when it comes to Liverpool. When I signed it was very quick, I said yes directly. But it was always Liverpool. I know this is like a big family and I want to be a part of that."
Szoboszlai has followed Ryan Gravenberch in committing his future to Liverpool, with the Netherlands international signing a new six-year contract in March. Meanwhile, Alexis Mac Allister still has two years remaining on his current deal, although talks over an extension have yet to take place with the Argentina midfielder.
Curtis Jones remains another player whose future has attracted attention, with the midfielder having just one year left on his contract. The Liverpool academy graduate continues to be linked with a departure, with Inter Milan already seeing multiple bids rejected.
