England head coach Thomas Tuchel is under increasing pressure after the Three Lions lost 2-1 to Argentina in the World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night.
Tuchel was criticised for his defensive substitutions as England tried to hold onto their one-goal lead.
Ahead of Saturday's third-place play-off against France, speculation has mounted around Guardiola potentially replacing Tuchel.
Guardiola would like to manage an international team before he eventually retires from football. He is also open to that nation being England.
The FA are also admirers of Guardiola having attempted to hire him in 2024.
However, having only just left Manchester City at the end of last season, Guardiola has already admitted he does not have the energy to jump straight back into the dugout. He is also challenging himself to stay away from coaching as he looks to recharge.
Guardiola has also just started a new job with the City Football Group (CFG) as a global ambassador. This role will allow him to offer advice to the likes of Palermo, Lommel and Troyes, should they want it.
Due to a clause in this job, Guardiola would be prevented from taking any other coaching position while working for CFG.
CFG are not expected to stand in Guardiola's way should he wish to start a new job. However, it is one of several hurdles between him and joining England. Read the full story here.
