Arsenal are set to make an opening bid for Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers that will eclipse their transfer record.
Rogers has been the Gunners' top target and Fabrizio Romano previously revealed that personal terms have almost been agreed. The 23-year-old has been busy representing England at the World Cup, where his nation was eliminated after a defeat to Argentina in the semi-finals.
Arsenal are close to completing their first attacking signing after agreeing on a £34 million deal with Club Brugge for Greek winger Christos Tzolis. They are now pressing ahead with their efforts to sign Rogers and stepping up their interest.

According to Steve Kay of Football Transfers, Arsenal are set to submit an opening offer of around £105 million (€123m) for Rogers. This is more than the club-record £100m fee they paid West Ham United for Declan Rice in 2023.
The Gunners are expected to fail with this bid as Villa will respond with an asking price of £130m. That fee would make Rogers the most expensive Premier League signing in history, eclipsing the £125m Liverpool spent on Alexander Isak last summer.
Rogers, dubbed "one of the world's best players" by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, has been one of English football's best attackers in recent seasons and helped Unai Emery's side qualify for the UEFA Champions League last season. He registered 10 goals and seven assists in 37 league games.
With personal terms agreed, the next step is finding an agreement on a fee for the England star. His profile and versatility could help Mikel Arteta deliver back-to-back titles while finally winning a European title.
