There was an incredible announcement on Friday by the Tennessee Titans as they announced former running back Chris Johnson will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor during Week 1 of the 2026 season against the New York Jets. In the announcement, Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk discussed the decision in a statement.
“Chris Johnson holds a special place in the hearts of our organization and our fans. His stats speak for themselves, and he will forever remain a leader in our record books, but the man behind the yardage deserves just as much celebration. We look forward to welcoming him home on Sept. 13 and officially inducting him into the Titans Ring of Honor.”
Chris Johnson spent six of his 10 seasons with the Tennessee Titans from 2008-13. In those six seasons, he played in 95 games (93 starts) and was an All-Pro, Offensive Player of the Year, and a three-time Pro Bowler. He finished with 1,742 rushing attempts for 7.965 yards (4.6 yards per carry) with 50 rushing touchdowns as well as 272 receptions on 370 targets for 2,003 yards (7.4 yards per catch) with eight receiving touchdowns. In an interview in 2024, Chris Johnson discussed loving being part of the Tennessee Titans.
“I was 21 years old when I first got there. I grew up there, in Tennessee, learned a lot, learned how to be on my own. I went from not having money, to having money and learning what I wanted to do with it. There was some maturing going on. It was a whole lot of growing up. And I loved playing football. I had some great teammates, great coaches. I have so many great memories.”
He will be the 20th member of the Titans Ring of Honor. He will be one of two announced additions to the Ring of Honor this season as it was previously announced that former radio analyst and assistant coach Dave McGinnis will be inducted posthumously later this season. This is a great sign of respect by the Tennessee Titans to do this as soon as possible after CJ2K’s ALS diagnosis going public.
