**Weekend Boxing Preview**
As the world of soccer prepares for the finals this weekend (I’m using the word “soccer” because in this part of the world the word “football” is reserved for the NFL) boxing continues its normal assaults on the sports fan.
Who doesn’t like boxing.
In the Inland Empire a major card that features contenders in the super lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight class are capped off by the women’s WBC super flyweight title fight between Adelaida Ruiz (18-1-1) and Ginny Fuchs (4-0) on Saturday July 18, at the Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino, Calif. The ProBox.TV series can be seen on Youtube.com
In Los Angeles County, 70 miles west, Matchroom Boxing counters with super middleweight contenders Diego Pacheco (25-0, 18 KOs) meeting Immanuwel Aleem (22-4-3) at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. DAZN will stream the fight card.
Ironically, [Aleem last fought in March in San Bernardino against Lester Martinez in a very competitive fight](https://tss.ib.tv/boxing/lester-martinez-defeats-immanuwel-aleem-wins-interim-wbc-super-middleweight-title/). It doesn’t get easier against Pacheco who grew up in nearby South-Central L.A.
Both boxing cards are filled with talent from Southern California or nearby states. One added concern will be the heated temperatures hovering at 90 to 105 degrees.
Pacheco and Aleem will be fighting at the outdoor tennis stadium and temperatures are expected to reach 92 degrees on Saturday. The stadium is located near the beaches, so once the sun goes down temperatures drop and you feel the need for a sweater.
In San Bernardino, the temperatures will hit 100 or more and though the boxing card is indoors, it will be very hot. The ProBox.TV card has 16 bouts scheduled, so drink a lot of liquid and dress light. Things will get heated up when Bryan Flores (28-1-1, 16 KOs) and Jonathan Navarro (18-2, 9 KOs) clash for a scheduled 10 rounds.
The female super flyweight fight between Ruiz and Fuchs is a rematch. Their first encounter was a blistering affair that ended up being a top contender for female Fight of the Year. It was an extremely entertaining fight. Expect the same intensity.
Another weekend of boxing.
**Ryan vs Conor in September**
Both Zuffa Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions announced Wednesday that Ryan Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) will defend the WBC welterweight world title against England’s Conor Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) on Saturday Sept. 12, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Paramount + will show the event.
Both fighters had been exchanging verbal bombs against each other attempting to force a professional confrontation in the boxing ring. It finally happened when both promotion companies agreed on terms that have not been divulged.
“Ryan Garcia is one of the biggest stars in boxing and a world champion. These guys are in their prime, and it’s a fight they’ve both wanted for a long time,” said Zuffa Boxing’s Dana White. “They’ll come face-to-face for the first time today before stepping into the ring on September 12 during Mexican Independence Day weekend at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The energy in that place will be incredible.”
Garcia, 27, just captured the WBC title this past February with a convincing win over Mario Barrios in Las Vegas. He is looking to make his first defense against Benn.
Benn, 29, is a natural welterweight but opted to move up to middleweight to compete against rival Chris Eubank Jr. in two fights. Though he lost the first encounter in April 2025, they fought again on November 2025, with Benn winning convincingly with two knockdowns in the 12.
**Amanda Serrano at Pechanga in August**
Most Valuable Promotions and TikTok announced that seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano (49-4-1, 32 KOs) will defend the featherweight championship against Lucrecia Manzur (14-4, 7 KOs) on Friday August 21 at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula. TikTok Live will broadcast the MVP card.
“To headline the first-ever championship boxing event on TikTok is incredibly meaningful,” said Serrano. “Women’s boxing deserves to be seen by as many people around the world as possible, and this partnership gives us the chance to introduce our sport to a massive global audience in a completely new way. I’m also proud that Lucrecia and I will be making history in the first-ever unified women’s world championship contested over 12 two-minute rounds.”
Serrano’s last contest took place on May 30 in El Paso, Texas where she knocked out Germany’s Cheyenne Hanson in the second round. Now Serrano will be attempting to establish a knew knockout record for women. She is currently tied with Hall of Fame great Christy Martin with 32 knockout wins.
Others scheduled to perform are Iyana (Roxy) Verduzco (8-0) versus Miguelina Hernandez (4-0) in a battle between undefeated featherweights; minimumweight Jocelyn Camarillo (6-0) versus Ashley Felix (7-4); and Brazilian sensation Jully Poca (1-0) against Cinderella Linear (1-0) in a super lightweight fight. Several other men’s fights are planned.
