Morgan Rogers enjoyed an outstanding 2025-26 campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists in 55 appearances for Aston Villa.
Since joining from Middlesbrough in a £16m deal in 2024, the 23-year-old has developed into a full England international, earning 21 caps.
He has made five appearances at the 2026 World Cup, registering an assist for Anthony Gordon in England’s semi-final defeat to Argentina on Wednesday night.
Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Rogers, but Arsenal have reportedly made the Villa forward their top attacking target this summer.
The Gunners are keen to sign a marquee forward, although Villa are said to value him at around £130million. Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the defence of Arsenal’s Premier League title.
The club have already signed goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer and made Piero Hincapie’s loan move from Bayer Leverkusen permanent for £34.5m.
Arsenal are also seeking defensive reinforcements, with William Saliba expected to miss part of the new season due to a back injury that could require surgery after playing through the pain barrier at the World Cup. Ezri Konsa is viewed as a potential option, while adding a left-sided attacker remains a priority.
According to HandofArsenal, Arsenal and Aston Villa are in club-to-club talks over a deal for Rogers, with senior representatives from both clubs in direct contact. The report adds that personal terms are not expected to be an issue.
Aston Villa have no intention of selling Rogers and are in a strong negotiating position after the forward signed a new contract until 2031 last November.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the England international, ensuring Arsenal are likely to face stiff competition for his signature.
With Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze already at the club, Arsenal are viewing Rogers primarily as a wide attacking option.
With Tzolis set to arrive and Leandro Trossard leaving, Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen the left side of his attack this summer and sees the England international as a key target to help reshape the position.
