Following reports that Mohamed Salah had agreed to sign for Turkish club Besiktas on a one-year contract, his agent, Ramy Abbas, immediately denied it and said no deal was in place with any club.
Salah's next destination remains unknown, as the Egyptian prepares for his next chapter away from Liverpool after nine years. Abbas has already hinted that Salah's future will be resolved "very soon," but reports on Friday suggested that Besiktas had won the race.
It was claimed that Salah had reached a verbal agreement with Besiktas, just days after the Turkish club signed Leandro Trossard from Arsenal. However, Abbas sarcastically shut down the rumors, admitting they were fabricated.
Roughly two hours after the reports surfaced on social media, Abbas posted on X to set the story straight. "I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season," he wrote. "What does that tell you?"
Hours after claims that Salah would sign for Besiktas, he wrote, "We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season, but we may know very soon." The new season is fast approaching, but Salah is currently enjoying downtime after representing Egypt at the FIFA World Cup.
Salah has been linked with a host of clubs since his departure from Liverpool became official, with teams in Saudi Arabia eager to secure his signature. Salah has also been linked with a return to Italy, while MLS clubs have shown interest.

Abbas clarified to fans on social media that he will only engage with clubs that Salah has listed. "It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise," he wrote on X.
Salah's status as a free agent has also helped negotiations, following a mutual agreement with Liverpool to end his contract one year early. Salah was devastated to leave the club and said that he was more emotional than ever once his tenure was complete.
"I think I cried more than in my whole life," Salah said alongside Andy Robertson, who also left after nine years and has already signed for Tottenham. "I'm not really an emotional guy.

"We lived our youth here, sharing everything from the beginning to the end. We put this club back where it belongs. He [Robertson] is loved because he gives his all in the field. They love him for that.

"It's tricky to leave Liverpool. He's very important for the team, and for that period of time we had. I'm really honored to share a dressing room with him. He was there for the team. I am very blessed to share a dressing room with him.
"It's life. I look back and wonder if I would have wanted more than I achieved. Not really. We won it all. We see the love from the fans, and this is the most important thing for me.
"I will be far away from here. I will be emotional every time. I hope the team stays in the position, fighting for everything."
