Barcelona are reportedly preparing a five-year contract for exciting youngster Toni Fernandez in a bid to secure his long-term future at the club.
According to Diario Sport, Barca are working on a deal that would keep Fernandez committed to the club until 2031.
Fernandez has started pre-season with Hansi Flick and is working hard to show the German coach what he can do. He’s eager to make an impact but there’s stiff competition for places in attack for the 2026-27 season.
Flick is expected to keep a close eye on Fernandez in pre-season before making a decision on his next steps.
There’s been talk that Fernandez could go out on loan in a bid to gain more playing time, with there being a sense that he needs to move on from Barca Atletic.
However, Barcelona’s attack for next season is not yet complete which may delay any final decision on where Fernandez will play next season. Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon have arrived, while the club are still hoping to sign Julian Alvarez.
