Aaron Donald is well remembered by many fans in the NFL, as he is considered one of the best defensive ends in the league. He spent 10 seasons in the NFL, all of them for the Los Angeles Rams since being chosen in the 2014 NFL Draft.
He is still admired by many Rams fans, even after he retired from the sport back in 2024. He has recently said that he is considering returning to the NFL, but one person has sounded alarm over it.
NFL analyst says Aaron Donald should not unretire
After trading for Myles Garrett, rumors of Donald making a comeback to the Rams spread like fire. Since then, the player has himself said that he is considering the decision to unretire multiple times and was seen training at their facility. Fans are awaiting his return to the Rams, pair up with a talent like Garrett, and potentially win them a Super Bowl.
Former Pittsburgh Panther and retired NFL defensive tackle Aaron Donald speaks to the crowd during his jersey number retirement ceremony during halftime of the Pittsburgh Panthers vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA on November 15, 2025.
A recent report from Ian Rapoport gave a possible update to the developing situation. The analyst said, “A real possibility is probably a pretty good way to describe it. My understanding is Aaron Donald himself doesn’t really know right now whether this is going to happen.” He added, “If he does show up, it would probably be towards the end of training camp or could even be into the season. But yes, Aaron Donald does seem to be exploring this possibility.”
However, it looks like not everyone is open to the idea. NFL analyst Bobby Burack feels that Donald coming back to the Rams could be bad for rest of the league. The analyst wrote on X, “This is bad for the NFL. The MLB season is not interesting because the Dodgers are so much better than the rest. Rams already added Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie this offseason. Adding Aaron Donald just further widens the talent gap between the Rams and everyone else.”
Many fans and analysts from rival teams have also expressed similar sentiment. However, a person close to Donald has seemingly hinted at an opposite direction.
Aaron Donald’s wife gives four word message
Amid all the discussion around Donald’s unretirement, his wife Erica seems to have dismissed all the speculation with a simple four word message on social media. She wrote, “I’m learning so much” along with three crying laughing emojis. She did not explain what she meant nor added any context to her message. Many are taking this to be her possibly dismissing all the rumors of her husband coming back to football. If he is indeed coming back to the Rams, his wife would know about it.
Despite this, Donald has shown that there is a real possibility of a comeback. His training in the Rams facility as well as several positive messages still keep the dreams of many fans to see him play for the Rams again alive.
It remains to be seen whether Aaron Donald ultimately decides to make a return to the NFL.
