The Carolina Panthers finished with an 8-9 record last season and won the NFC South. Carolina made the playoffs under head coach Dave Canales and quarterback Bryce Young. The NFC South got better this off-season, and many people are wondering if the Panthers will get back to the playoffs.

One of the key issues with Carolina’s offense this season could be the tight end position. The Panthers could have one of the worst tight end rooms in the NFL this season. Tommy Tremble, Felipe Franks, Ja’Tavion Sanders, and Mitchell Evans are the current tight ends on the roster. They could have addressed the position in the draft, trade, or free agency, but decided not to.
NFL Analyst Concerned About the Carolina Panthers Tight End Options For the 2026 NFL Season

Matt Okada of NFL.com listed one potential roster concern for each NFL team as the 2026 NFL season approaches. He thinks that one of the issues with the Panthers roster for the upcoming 2026 NFL season is the tight end and Okada said,
“Tight end: As I mentioned when explaining Carolina’s B+ offseason grade, I had hoped to see general manager Dan Morgan and Co. add a pass-catching tight end for Bryce Young this spring. After missing out on Oregon draft prospect Kenyon Sadiq, taking a pass on the small pool of notable free agents at the position and (as of now) eschewing a trade solution, the Panthers are running it back with Tommy Tremble and Ja’Tavion Sanders. Barring a breakout from one of their young wideouts, Young will have a dearth of reliable weapons behind Tetairoa McMillan (again).”
Tremble is projected to be the starting tight end for the Panthers this season. He caught 27 passes for 249 yards receiving and two touchdowns last season, along with averaging 9.2 yards per reception. Tremble also was targeted 37 times. The truth is, Carolina does not have good options at tight end with him or Sanders. If they both don’t perform in 2026, expect the Panthers to find a tight end in the 2027 NFL Draft also.
