“He’s Missed 12 Games”: NFL Analyst Questions Whether or not Mike Evans Signing Will Workout…

This off-season, the San Francisco 49ers signed wide receiver Mike Evans to a new three-year deal. Evans missed nine games last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has been with Tampa Bay since 2014. Evans is 32 years old.

In eight games last season with the Buccaneers, he caught 30 passes for 368 yards receiving and three touchdowns, along with averaging 12.3 yards per reception. Evans was targeted 61 times. He has a chance to get back on track this season. Evans has gone over 1000 yards in each NFL season of his career before the 2025 season. It will be interesting to see how things will go with him and Brock Purdy.

Many people are wondering how the 49ers will be this season. They are one of the oldest teams in the NFL. San Francisco finished with a 12-5 record last season and made the playoffs. Grant Gordon of NFL.com said about Evans being on the 49ers now,

“Signing away Mike Evans from the Buccaneers was a immense boon, but he’s missed 12 games over the past two seasons and will celebrate his 33rd birthday in August. It’s imperative that the stockpile of younger wideouts improves and the veteran adds of Evans and Christian Kirk still have tread on the tires. Previous mainstays Jauan Jennings and Deebo Samuel are gone. The latter is a free agent after a year with Washington and it wouldn’t be a shocker to see a reunion in San Francisco.

Jennings signed late in the offseason with the Vikings. Brandon Aiyuk is still technically with the team but is on the reserve/left squad list while continually trolling the 49ers (and plenty of others) in video missives. As Evans and Kirk get acclimated to quarterback Brock Purdy and Shanahan’s offense, 2024 first-rounder Ricky Pearsall faces a crucial camp, needing to overcome past injuries and calamity to truly emerge.”

At the moment, Evans, Christian Kirk, and Ricky Pearsall are the projected starting wide receivers for San Francisco. It has the potential to be a very good receiving core if they all stay healthy. If the 49ers get the good Evans, they’ll be in good hands. If they get the injury prone Evans, then it is not going to be good for them.
