The Arizona Cardinals will be one of the few teams who is unclear about the quarterback position this season. Arizona last season had Kyler Murray start the season at quarterback for the first five games, but Jacoby Brissett was the starter for the rest of the year. The Cardinals could very well start Brissett to begin the season, but it remains to be seen.

They also have Gardner Minshew and rookie Carson Beck on the roster. Minshew has played before for other NFL teams. Beck was a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft from the Miami Hurricanes.
NFL Analyst Believes That the Arizona Cardinals Will Have a Quarterback Battle in Training Camp

Grant Gordon of NFL.com wrote about the Cardinals training camp preview. He wrote how it is a new era for them under head coach Mike LaFleur and that also a possible quarterback competition could brew. Gordon said,
“After seven seasons, Kyler Murray is gone. After three years, Jonathan Gannon is gone. There’s a new coach in LaFleur. And whether it’s Brissett (more than likely), Gardner Minshew or rookie Carson Beck, there will be a new Week 1 starting quarterback. Love looks every bit the can’t-miss sensation Harrison seemed to be. It’s pivotal for the homegrown talent to blossom. Staying healthy is the first step. Meshing with LaFleur is the next — and that’ll begin in earnest later this month.”
There is a world where Brissett, Minshew, and Beck all start games this season for the Cardinals. Arizona could be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. There is a good chance that none of these quarterbacks will be the starter in 2027 and the starting quarterback for them is still in college at the moment.
