Liverpool has been tipped to make an exciting transfer swoop that would reunite Andoni Iraola with one of the stars of his Bournemouth team.

Brazil winger Rayan has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer in some quarters, despite only arriving in the Premier League back in January, and Alan Shearer says it would be a great option to target.

With Mohamed Salah having moved on, Liverpool needs someone to come in and play off the right-hand side. Federico Chiesa, who has never been a regular starter, is the only senior player who operates in that position at the moment.

"Yeah, that would be a big thing," Shearer told Betfair when asked about Liverpool and Rayan.

"They're going to have to replace Salah on that side. Rayan obviously worked with Andoni Iraola last year and he's clearly going on to big things, so that would be a big one for Liverpool.

"Liverpool are going to have to make two or three big signings and that would start them off nicely. They were pretty awful last year in terms of where they wanted to be, so they have to go out and they have to sign."

Earlier this week, Iraola confirmed that Liverpool is pursuing a right winger. The Spaniard is anticipating further signings this summer as he reshapes his new squad alongside sporting director Richard Hughes.

"We cannot expect to sign a winger that is going to replace Mo Salah because otherwise we are preparing him to fail almost," Iraola explained.

"I think obviously we need someone in that area, but probably will have different skills. He can maybe complement the team in another way, and we are working on that, definitely. It's one of the challenges.

"Definitely, there are going to be changes. A lot of senior players, players who have won everything here have left.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.

"We need other players to not replace them but assume (more responsibility) in terms of inside and outside the pitch.

"Some of the players we already have here also have to step up. They will for sure find themselves in an even more important position. And also, we have to find solutions outside that can help the very good players we already have."

Liverpool.com says: Rayan is a great player, but if the Reds wanted him, they could have moved in the winter window. Signing him now would mean paying three or four times as much only a few months later.

Going to the south coast for around $34 million (£25 million) from Vasco da Gama, Bournemouth is said to want at least $135 million (£100 million) for Rayan now.
