Everton are preparing for their opening game of pre-season, and there are four notable absentees.
Everton's first starting XI of pre-season has been confirmed as they prepare to face Scottish side Dundee.
Everton's jam-packed pre-season schedule gets underway on Saturday afternoon as they face Dundee as part of their training camp in Scotland.
The Toffees return to England next week as they then face Bolton and Stoke to round of July, before heading to Germany.
You can check out Everton's full pre-season schedule by clicking the story below.
Travers; Rohl, O'Brien, Keane, Aznou; Iroegbunam, Armstrong; Dibling, Dewsbury-Hall, George; Beto.
Subs: King, Tarkowski, McNeil, Barry, Alcaraz, Tamen, Finney, Graham, Campbell, Olayiwola, Catesby, Foster.
Branthwaite has been training with the Toffees this week, and he's making positive progress from his hamstring injury, with Everton clearly not looking to risk him.
Everton appear to be managing Hackney too, with the process of integrating him into the squad set to continue next week.
Garner misses out due to discomfort in his groin, and is set to be reviewed next week.
Mykolenko has returned home for the birth of his second child. Everyone at Roundtable wishes him well. Congrats, Vitalii!
It shouldn't be a surprise that David Moyes has opted against giving Branthwaite a run out in this game. It's still early days in his recovery, and there's little benefit to risking him so soon.
The Hackney decision is an interesting one. He did miss part of the end of the season with Middlesbrough and was only fit enough to play 20 minutes in the Championship play-off final. So, there's a chance he's still being managed, like Branthwaite.
The bench is filled with youngsters from the academy, so it does feel like there is maybe a deeper reason for Hackney's absence. Whether that be fitness or an injury that Everton don't want to reveal remains to be seen, but it will be interesting to hear Moyes speak on it more after the game.
Another eye-opening move from Moyes is starting Merlin Rohl at right-back. It's certainly not one I'm totally against. Rohl might struggle to become a guaranteed starter at central midfield this season, so proving his versatility in various positions could be useful for him and Everton.
Anyway, hopefully it's a comfortable win for Everton and some valuable minutes for a number of players. Up the Toffees!
