Ex-Blackpool, Liverpool and Derby County figure on trial with League Two club as search for new …

Blackpool take on Tranmere Rovers this afternoon in their second pre-season friendly.

Blackpool are up against a familiar figure this afternoon - with Tom Ince forming part of Tranmere Rovers’ starting XI.

The winger is currently on trial with the Wirral outfit, having become a free agent earlier this summer following the end of his contract with Watford.

Ince made the move to Hertfordshire back in 2023, and scored 11 times in 93 outings for the Championship side.

The 34-year-old has enjoyed a lengthy career since coming through the ranks of Liverpool as a teenager.

While he was developed as a youngster on Merseyside, his first extended taste of senior football came on the Fylde Coast.

The then-England youth international joined the Seasiders in 2011, and remained on the books at Bloomfield Road for three years.

During that time he scored 33 goals and provided 28 assists in 113 appearances, with his outings including the 2012 Championship play-off final defeat to West Ham United.

The final stages of his Blackpool contract were spent out on loan with Crystal Palace, before he made a permanent move to Hull City.

From there, he would go on to add the likes of Derby County, Huddersfield Town and Stoke City to his CV, with his stint with the former being the only place where he’s been able to better his Seasiders scoring record.
