Ahead of a critical season, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive guard Spencer Anderson has hired a new agent. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Anderson has joined 1 of 1 Agency, as shared by the agency and by Anderson through his Instagram story.
Anderson was previously represented by Vanguard Sports Agency.
Anderson joins a team also working for another Steelers’ player entering a contract year. 1 of 1 Agency also represents DL Keeanu Benton, who could be in-line for an extension before training camp begins. EDGE Nick Herbig, who signed a $100 million deal earlier this offseason, and C Zach Frazier, in-line for a big extension next offseason, are also their clients.
The agency also represents notable clients like OT Lane Johnson and C Creed Humphrey. Two highly-paid offensive linemen.
Anderson is less likely to reach a deal ahead of the season opener. Even if he doesn’t sign an extension, a good year in which he wins the starting right guard job could lead to a sizable 2027 payday. Anderson enjoyed his best season last year as a fill-in left guard for Isaac Seumalo and tackle-eligible, playing a key role as a sixth offensive lineman in Pittsburgh’s running game. He’ll still only be 26 years by free agency next March and youthful offensive linemen who hit the market often get paid good money.
He’ll enter training camp battling Brock Hoffman and rookie Gennings Dunker for the right guard job. Per media reports, Anderson ran first-team right guard during the spring. Hoffman backed him up with Dunker playing second-team left guard. Anderson is likely to begin training camp in pole position but will have to prove himself during the summer to secure the job for the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
A seventh round pick in 2023, Anderson has exceeded expectations. He’s appeared in 42 games for the Steelers, making 11 starts. He even caught his first NFL pass last season.
Anderson is at least the second Steeler entering a contract year to change agents. Earlier this year, LB Patrick Queen switched representation.
