Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is not losing any sleep over what his NFC rivals are doing this offseason.
Seattle claimed its second Vince Lombardi Trophy last February. They defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Few saw it coming. Seattle entered the 2025 season at 60-to-1 Super Bowl odds.
Macdonaldwon it all in just his second year at the helm. Seattle finished the regular season 16-3 and earned the NFC’s No. 1 seed.There’s now a big target on their backs. The rest of the division has spent the offseason trying to close the gap.

Seahawks’ Mike Macdonald Makes Defiant Statement Amid NFC West Arms Race
The Seattle shot-caller addressed the flurry of moves from teams looking to dethrone the reigning champions head-on. The 39-year-old bench boss sent a strong message.
“Don’t care,” he said, per NFL writer Josh Alper. “If you start worrying about what everybody else is doing, it’s just mentally taxing. Let’s just worry about the Seahawks and being the best version of ourselves and getting better every day.”
The NFC West wasted no time this offseason. The Los Angeles Rams added superstar pass-rusher Myles Garrett in a blockbuster trade.They also bolstered their secondary with Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. There are also talks about Aaron Donald’s potential return from retirement.
The San Francisco 49ers were equally aggressive. They brought in wide receivers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk. The 49ers also shored up the defensive line with Osa Odighizuwa and linebacker Dre Greenlaw.
Meanwhile, Seattle absorbed some significant losses. Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker IIIdeparted for the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. Boye Mafe and Tariq Woolen also changed jerseys.
On the flip side, they locked in star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a long-term extension. They also added running back Jadarian Price with their first-round draft pick.
Macdonald built a championship squad by tuning out the noise. Nothing about this offseason suggests he plans to change that approach.
