Liverpool have been accused of wasting time in what is a critical summer transfer window for the Reds.
Last summer, Liverpool spent around £460m on new signings, signing world class talent like Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
Although the investment didn’t yield dividends immediately, there is plenty of time remaining on the contracts of last summer’s new signings and with the arrival of Iraola, there is an increased chance of seeing them hit the heights they were expected to when signed.
However, speaking on ESPN FC, Steve Nicol lamented Liverpool’s transfer business so far.
He said: “I’m absolutely shocked. Pre-season has already started. “They’ve already let more go again this year than they’ve brought in.
“They’ve brought in a young defender who’s as raw as the day is long. Victor Munoz is a head-scratcher, and that’s it? I don’t know what to say.
“The whole rumor thing — even with the rumors, we’re only talking about two players. I’m sorry, I’m completely befuddled here. I’ve no idea what’s going on.
“Absolutely, 100 percent, they should have more signings by now, and the longer it goes without any [more], it just tells you they’re going to end up gambling when they shouldn’t be.
“They’ve just spent £100M on two players that we don’t know whether they’ll be starting if they had a game tomorrow.
“They need five or six. I tell you what, I hope the bank balance is in good shape, because it’ll have to be.”

Nicol is infamous for being over-reactionary and with over two months of the summer transfer window to go, Liverpool need not be in any major rush to get signings over the line.
The last thing we want to see is FSG rush into making bad deals and further risking the longevity of the current project.
Iraola, while a very talented and passionate manager, is no miracle worker and will need patience. Arne Slot winning the Premier League in his first season was a fluke, and so no expectations should be placed on Iraola to mimic the Dutchman’s immediate success at Anfield.
