There has been a significant shift in the betting odds for where NBA superstar LeBron James will land in free agency, and it’s good news for the Miami Heat and bad news for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers have routinely been atop the odds to win the LeBron sweepstakes, and his former team is no doubt a strong candidate.
However, another one of his former teams, the Heat (+130), have jumped ahead of the Cavs (+225) in the betting odds, according to Hard Rock Bet.
Rounding out the top four in the James odds are the Golden State Warriors (+350) and the Philadelphia 76ers (+400).

Miami has slowly been gaining ground on Cleveland over the past week, so we can’t say it’s totally surprising to see this go down.
Whether or not the sportsbooks know something we don’t remains to be seen, but publicly there really hasn’t been a strong indication about where LeBron will end up, as we’ve seen rumors connecting him to each of the aforementioned teams.
However, the waiting game for LeBron continues, and it’s the longest wait the NBA world has seen from a LeBron James free agency bid.
The longest came back in 2014, when LeBron took 10 days to announce he was going back to Cleveland. The last time he was a free agent in 2018, James needed less than 24 hours after free agency began.

This time around, we’re almost three weeks into LeBron’s free agency bid, with the future Hall of Famer having notified the Los Angeles Lakers he wouldn’t return on June 30.
LeBron and the Heat are a perfect match

The Heat made one of the biggest moves of the entire NBA offseason after pulling off a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who forms an intriguing duo with Bam Adebayo.
However, the Heat need more help if they’re going to truly be a championship contender.
More specifically, the Heat need more scoring punch following the departure of Norman Powell in free agency to the Chicago Bulls, and they could use another ball-handler, also.

The Heat are a great fit for LeBron because he won’t have as much on his plate defensively thanks to Adebayo and Giannis, and he can play with the ball in his hands more often.
On top of all that, there are few teams in the league that can offer LeBron a better opportunity to win another title before he retires.
